Event Overview

The Plant-Based Fast Food Kitchen is a batch cooking workshop for famished + all too busy folks.

On the surface? It’s about cooking rice + beans.

But really? It’s about learning how to turn whole foods into uber-simple meals with speed, simplicity + ease.

It’s designed for people who don’t have time to cook dinner on Tuesday nights — people who struggle to come up with simple meals the family will love, and people who just need more time in their day.

By the end of the workshop, you'll understand how to structure …

- a super simple meal map
- a practical shopping list (for reals)
- meals using my tried + true formula
- creative leftovers
- plant-based and gluten-free meals the kids won't feed to the dogs

And best of all, you’ll have the experience of mapping a meal plan that works for your life.

Grab your favorite bevvie (class is BYOB!), notebook + pen and get ready to un-fuss the way you eat.

I'll show you how to transform plant-based staples like brown rice, quinoa, legumes, homemade hummus, marinara sauce, grilled veggies and more into easy meals so you'll never feel like you're eating the same thing for dinner every night.

With batch cooking you'll save time, money and sanity.

Cooking on the weekend means your kitchen stays cleaner during the week, leaving more time to do what you love.

Class is gluten and soy free as well as plant-strong (vegan) which means no meat or dairy, processed oils.

What to Bring

BYOB

Minimum age

All ages welcome

Prerequisites

This class is NOT for you if:
-you're expecting a hand-on cooking demo, this is a relaxed event where you'll snack, sip and chat with fellow batch cookers and get to pick my brain
- you like pre-scripted + specific meal plans
- you just need to follow recipes to a 'T'
- you take cooking super seriously
- you expect all of your food creations to come out perfect
- you don't like having fun in the kitchen

Please note this class is not an intro to vegan eating, but it's about cooking real food efficiently, in batches. No matter your eating style, more veggies are a good thing right?

What's Provided

gluten-free, soy-free, oil-free plant-based snacks, pens, worksheets

I'd love to live in a world where green juice flows from taps, going barefoot is totally cool, and homes downsize instead of up-size.

Plant-based cook + urban-minimalist, my un-fussy food and minimalist musings have been featured on Kris Carr, Happy Herbivore, Mint.com and The Local Beet Chicago.

When I'm not simplifying busy people’s plates + getting more fresh whole foods into kids (meaning making parents happy), you can find me devouring books on food and culture, flipping tractor tires like a boss and indulging in red wine with a hunk of raw chocolate.

I'll show you how to re-connect with food + un-fuss everything about your cooking + home, so you can have a more experience-rich life.

Jacq has a lot of knowledge to share and gave tons of examples and next steps for vegan batch cooking. It made the thought of doing this type of cooking and meal planning seem much more reasonable and not quite so intimidating. Thank you!

I'm a vegetarian and went to this class to get better organized in the kitchen. Wow! It was great! Terrific teacher, wonderful tips, and lots of material to take home and use immediately for a much easier, more systematic approach to eating healthy without working too hard at it. There's also follow-up after the class so you certainly get your money's worth! Vegan or vegetarian, I highly recommend this class!

I had a great time! Delicious snacks, cozy atmosphere and a wealth of collateral and information on easy ways to plan, shop for and batch-cook plant-based delicious meals. This class is not meant to be an intro to plant-based eating/cooking, it is rather a simple and easy to follow guide for those that had made a decision to eat healthier and are looking to learn how to start or to improve their plant-based kitchen and cooking skills. The instructor followed up by emailing to the group the answers to a list of questions asked during the class, as promised.
A veteran of plant-based diet eating, I still learned a few tricks and cool new recipes! A word of caution: a plant-based diet requires certain knowledge in plant-based proteins combinations to ensure adequate intake of all 9 essential amino acids necessary for our own proteins synthesis, as well as the plant sources of some vitamins and minerals - all in absence of animal-based foods intake. While this class was helpful in a practical way, it's goal was not to educate one on how to become vegan safely.

There were lots of delicious snacks, a comfortable space and some good ideas for mass cooking. However, the "Big Cook" sounds pretty intimidating.

I was hoping to come home with some recipes. Instead I came home with a goal of making a week's worth of something this weekend.

    From Teacher:

Thanks so much for coming out and for your feedback! This is helpful, and gives me an idea for a recipe list to possibly provide during class. I like to email recipes to cut down on paper, look for them in your inbox shortly!

I really enjoyed the Plant Based Batch Prep. class and would recommend the class to anyone who opens a fridge full of food only to wonder what to eat. The techniques and tricks learned in this class basically will turn your fridge into a food bar that is ready to deliver anytime hunger strikes. There were three elements to this class and each one of them was just fantastic.

    1) The prepared vegan buffet was out of this world and everyone was happily dipping away during the entire class.
    2) The handout for the class was very professional and allows you take the learned information back home to put into practice.
    3) The roundtable of like-minded plant-based food practitioners was fun and enlightening
