Event Overview

Want to sing like birds, hop like rabbits and goof around like a bunch of goofy gophers? Join us for Nature's Music Box! Each class will be filled with a variety of nature-themed music activities including sing-alongs, movement exercises and a percussion jam!

Children and their parents will leave the session with a repertoire of nature songs to sing at home. Of course parents and caregivers are strongly encouraged to join in on the fun. Doesn't matter if you sing like a canary or sing like a crow, we all work together to create a joyful and enriching musical environment.

Even little ones that are too little to sing along are encouraged to join! They will have plenty to absorb as we explore our natural world through song and rhythm. Come to Nature's Music Box and bark, chirp, growl and buzz your heart out!

Tara Smith is a children's music and arts teacher based in Chicago. She has worked with children of all ages over the past five years at the Nature Museum and takes great pleasure in teaching children about the natural world through song and movement. Recently, Tara has focused on introducing toddler-age (and younger) children to the world of melody, harmony and rhythm and strongly believes in the value of being exposed to music at a very young age. Previous teaching engagements in Chicago include, Redmoon, Chicago Shakespeare theater, Operamatic and the East Bank Club.
