Film Photography
TOP RATED
Arts & DIY
In the not too distant past, it was customary for photographers to take pictures using ACTUAL film. Once you took a picture, it was stuck on the film for all of eternity; no hitting the play button to scan back through and see if you needed to bump up the speed or turn down the aperture. Back in the day, you didn’t get to see that kind of stuff until the film was developed. And developing is exactly what we are going to do in this class!
Designed to get you acquainted with the process of taking a strip of film and turning it into paper prints, this class will also get you rooted with the history of photography. We will start the day with a short picture walk around the neighborhood, then dive right in to developing the film strips. We will then scan the film and make high quality prints right there.
Taught by a lifelong photo enthusiast and avid photo printer, Mark McDade, you’ll leave this class with prints you made yourself as well as a new appreciation for the art. It’s a long class, so lunch is included in the price, too!

This class will be taught at The Cartel Studio by Mark McDade, a Longmont resident who has had a love affair with the camera since the first time they met, which was well before the digital age. He never lost the desire to create real prints and so splits his time between using film and digital cameras, creating beautiful images with each.
