Event Overview

Learn the basic stitches of the machine, identify the main parts of a machine and how they work, and learn how to properly thread your machine for jam-free sewing. Then, we'll discuss how to properly clean and care for your machine and tension it for most fabrics. Plus we'll identify some common problems that are easy to solve on the fly!

We highly recommend you bring your own machine if you have one, and make sure to bring the owner's manual, an empty bobbin, and all parts to operate your machine (foot pedal, sewing foot, needle, etc).

Best class I’ve ever taken ! The teacher was so fun and had an amazing personality. She was so easy to learn valuable information from . The class setting was very small and personal which was a plus for me . Highly recommend !

This class was very good! I found out I was doing several things wrong with using my sewing machine. Instructor help every student (there is only 3 per class) with their individual machines. Class went longer than an hour (which was fine) as we covered a lot of material and asked a lot of questions.

I wanted to review sewing skills, right from the beginning. I took the Sewing Machine Basics class. I can not believe how much I learned tonight. I was never taught how to correctly maintain my machine. I also learned about how to correct tension, and a lot of other helpful things that I should have learned years ago.

Fabulous Class! Since I'm new to sewing and have just purchased my first sewing machine, I really needed this class. Going in I didn't feel confident on how to thread my own machine or even know where everything was located and how to use it. After this class I feel much more confident in being able to clean and use my sewing machine.

Even though I grew up sewing, I never realized how much my mom took care of behind the scenes! I wouldn't have been able to get my machine up and running without this class (as evidenced by the huge clump of knots I "sewed" when attempting to hem a pair of jeans). Can't wait for more classes to be posted after the holidays. I'll be back for sure!

Highly recommend! Tish took the time to help each person with their specific machine, making sure we each understood the nuances of our particular machines. She followed up via email with notes from the class and let us know that we could reach out to her with any specific issues/questions that we came up with after the class.
