Do you bungle your buttonholes? Never made a buttonhole, and are scared to ruin a project? This class will guide you through the buttonhole process to give you store-bought results!
Buttonholes don't have to be the bane of your garment. We'll review how to properly place your buttonholes, how to measure the size of your buttons for buttonholes that fit, and how to properly execute sewing a buttonhole with your machine or one of ours.
You will get the best results from this class if you have a little experience with machine sewing, and if you bring your own machine to class so we can review it's particular method of making buttonholes. Also be sure to bring your buttonhole foot with you, you'll need it! Don't have a machine, or you normally sew at a friend or relative's house? No sweat! We'll loan you one of ours so you understand the technique to apply on any machine later on.

Your sewing machine (and buttonhole foot!), if you have one! If not, that's ok, you can use one of ours! A little sewing experience helps too!

With over 30 years sewing experience and many many sewing "experiments" gone good and bad, it was time to share some of these findings with others who enjoy sewing and making garments and home decor items. We truly believe anyone that wants to learn to sew will be able to make quality items with the proper skills offered to them. We don't just teach sewing, we build confidence and skills with personal service at HISS Studio!
When this class started, and I realized there was a whole lot more to making button holes than I would have anticipated, I thought I'd never be able to do it. But, when I made my first button hole in class I was very excited! Now I know what the different types of button holes are, on what fabrics you would use them, how to measure it to fit your button, and finally sewing a button hole. It was great leaving class knowing I could feel confident in trying it on my own.

Buttonholes class was really a useful class. Tish, our teacher made the class very interesting and fun. At the end of the class we were able to make our own buttonholes, she also shared few tips and tricks that helped us to correct our measurements. I have also taken beginner sewing series from her and her class always comes with useful facts and she is good in paying attention to all the students in the classes.
