Event Overview

Our farm is hosting a Homemade Soap Making 101 class. Please spread the word to anyone who might be interested. The Fleischer Family Farm is an urban farm on the Colorado front range providing opportunities for the local community to source delicious nutrient-rich produce, cage-free eggs, and other cottage food items produced without the use of pesticides or synthetics. Through environmentally respectful practices, our family works tirelessly to be the community provider of quality farm products and your inspiration for continued education in knowing the life cycle of your food.

We have been making our own soap at home for over 5 years now and have been through a lot. We would love to pass on our knowledge and experience to you or anyone else who may be interested in learning this homesteading skill. We will discuss the basics of how to create your own amazing soap in your own home kitchens. Participants will leave with a step by step packet of instructions on creating soap, a recipe of ingredients/tools and information on where to source them, a note catcher used throughout the class and a bar of fresh homemade soap to take home for themselves. The class is set for Sunday, April 19th from 1pm-3pm (give or take a few minutes depending on how the batch of soap cooks) at our farm in Lakewood.  Feel free to bring a beer or two if you're so inclined and enjoy learning this new skill with a local farmer in your area.

Great Class! I learned so much about both hot and cold process soap making. I feel it prepared me to attempt it own my own. He clearly explained all the steps and gave lots of tips and tricks based on his personal experiences, both what to do and what not to do. Much of what he discussed, I feel like you wouldn't learn just by reading a book or trying a soap recipe. He made everyone feel welcome and gladly answered all the questions as they came up. I would definitely recommend taking this class.

This class was well attended and very informative on both soap making processes. Paul, the instructor, was well organized and had printouts ready to go and had a casual teaching style which I loved. I can’t wait to make my own soap!!

This basic soap making class was fun, informative and a great way to learn how easy it can be to make soap. The host family was experienced, light and knowledgeable.
