Event Overview

Have you been thinking of growing our own food in Chicago, but are a bit overwhelmed where to start? All the talk about raised beds and square food gardening and indoor acquaponic indoor growing systems are confusing?

Don't worry - you do not have to limit yourself to a pot of basil anymore. Join us for a class that discusses the nitty and the gritty of urban gardening. We are excited to welcome Todd Jones from Every Last Morsel to share his expertise with us.

> Containers on your balcony or a raised bed in the backyard
> How to optimize the space available for best yield
> Which crops do best in Chicago - and which ones are recommended for gardening newbies

We will discuss the pro's and con's of all the options, the costs involved with them and time commitment required, as well as share resources and send you off with a to-do list for your urban gardening project!

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Lee Greene is an avid urban gardener and the owner of Scrumptious Pantry, an heirloom food company working closely with small sustainable farms to make food products that focus on the quality of the vegetables. Maintaining biodiversity by growing heirloom varieties is at the core of her mission, if they are grown on a 3 acre farm or in a square-foot-gardening plot in her neighborhood!

Todd Jones is the sole proprietor of Every Last Morsel, a consulting service for edible landscapes. He has a rich experience of creating edible gardens and urban farms in different settings - from the raised bed, to the backyard farm. He is currently starting an online marketplace for home growers.

It was a great class. Informative and helpful. Todd answered individual questions at the end, and offered advice. Just finding the place ( The Scrumptious Pantry (The Sumptuous Pantry) was fantastic. One of Chicago's hidden treasures.

Great class, learned a lot of actually useful ways to properly prepare and create my own city garden and I feel i can start asap. Very amenable presenter and teacher, and delicious treats after the course to a reasonably hungry after-work crowd :)

I thought the class was great. We covered a lot of basics and there was plenty of time for questions!
