Event Overview

Join us at the 3-switch studio to learn a few basic functions of the cold shop. We instruct on how to make drinking glasses from bottles that you decided to upcycle instead of recycle.

The cold shop is where you put the finishing touches on all of the hand-blown glass products. Learn how to set up and use a torch and a turn table to repurpose your bottles into a set of hand-made glasses. Use the exact same process 3-switch does to create their unique glassware. No prior experience is required. Dabblers should bring at least four empty bottles to use for the project keeping in mind the labels will not be used. Please clean the bottles and remove the labels by soaking them in hot water. The labels will not stay on the drink ware as you wash them over time so try to choose some unique bottles. Also since we are using a flame to polish it is best there is no paper on the bottle. Because we are working in a studio with glass and open flame for your safety please make sure to wear close-toed shoes, no baggy or flowing clothes, keep hair products to a minimum and bring something to tie long hair back.
We do either that method or we cut the bottles on the wet saw and polish them with the polishing equipment. These you can take home the same day.
When the class is complete we will anneal the glasses to relieve any stress of fire polished glasses and you can pick them up at a later date or arrange for shipping.

Party on but save your favorite bottles to Dabble with.

Patrick and the 3-Switch Staff are multi-talented individuals.
Patrick himself is overly educated and highly under water. Come glean some of his overpriced art school knowledge. He has gained 2 art degrees while studying at the University of Illinois and The Art Institute of Chicago. Many life lessons can be learned as well. It will be fun to work with the staff of 3-Switch to gain crafty ways of upcycling, repurposing and designing cool keepsakes using really great expensive tools.

I loved my glasses that I made in this class. I use them all the time and they are super durable. The instructors were really fun and approachable. They make sure you don't blow anything up, which is great. They are also really good teachers and you learn to use a lot of different equipment. At the end of this class, you will get glasses that I think you will literally have for the rest of your life.

My fiance and I attended this class together. We had a great time working with Patrick and loved that every part of the process was hands on. We would definitely do this again.

Super fun and informative class! Patrick was extremely accommodating and patient as we learned to use the tools to cut our bottles into glasses. Can't wait to get our glasses back and wow our friends with our handmade collection. Patrick is a talented artist, we will be back to purchase his artistic wine glass set as well! Highly recommend.
