Business & Technology
In 2005 the founders of Etsy launched its e-commerce site with the mission of bringing makers and buyers closer together — a perfect antidote in a world of mass production and big box stores. Today, Etsy has reached over 150 countries, and hosts a diverse marketplace that features the goods of tens of thousands of sellers.
This class is led by an Etsy seller, purpleandlime, who attended a training workshop at Etsy in June 2012 about Selling on Etsy. It will help you to better market your Etsy shop for maximum exposure. By getting the word out about your online shop, your brand awareness and sales will increase over time. Learn all about social media and marketing strategies so you can decide which will work best for your business!
Topics covered will include: Facebook Fan Pages/Groups, Twitter, Flickr, Pinterest, email lists, advertising, blogging and much more. No previous Etsy experience is necessary for this class, but if you already have a shop set up, come with questions.

A Cincinnati native, Rebecca studied Art History & Geology at the University of Michigan. From there, she earned a degree in Fashion Design and Marketing from the American Intercontinental University in London, England. Highlights of her career include having several pieces from her graduation collection featured in the international fashion magazine i-D (UK, Feb. 2007) and working on men’s leather pouches for the movie Elizabeth: The Golden Age (which won an Oscar for Best Costume). Her brand "purpleandlime" is a line of super-fun womenswear, jewelry, and accessories based in Chicago. She has been successfully selling her line on Etsy and in shops for four years, and enjoys teaching others about online handmade selling!
Class was great. Lots of information, maybe too much for the allotted time. Rebecca was very knowledgable on the subject. Enjoyed it very much.

It was great to meet a successful Etsy seller and some other newbies. Rebecca shared some good advice and I was glad I went.

It was more of a beginners class on social media marketing rather than actually marketing your Etsy shop. It was great to hear the teacher's story and what works for her shop.
