Event Overview

Our Beginning sewing series is PERFECT for new sewers looking to gain basic skills that can be applied to any sewing project. Bring your machine or use one of ours!

Classes included are:

June 3rd @12 PM: Sewing Machine Basics: Learn the basic stitches of the machine, proper cleaning techniques, identify the main parts of a machine and how they work, learn how to properly thread your machine for jam-free sewing. Know Your Tools @1:15 PM: Learn about the main tools used in the sewing process, how to use them to your maximum benefit, and what tools work best for specific projects. Perfect for those looking to set up a sewing area in their home without wasting space or blowing the budget!

June 17th @ 12 PM: Simple Seams: There's more to a great seam and edge finish than stitching a line and ironing it flat. Learn different seam finishes, how to properly press your seams, and how to get a professional finish every time! Pressing 101 @1:15 PM: There's "ironing" and then there's PRESSING. Do you know the difference? Learn to get the most out of your iron and board, and what pressing tools to consider when building your sewing tool chest. If you want to take your sewing to the next level of professionalism quickly and easily, this is the class to take!

June 24th @ 12 PM: Edge Finishes and Hems: Finished edges give a crisp, well-executed look to any project. Learn how to narrow edge hem, blindstitch a hem, and explore some fun finishes!

This is my second time taking a sewing class and I have to say this one is a better experience in every way. The class is small so the teacher can actually float back to each student and our teacher is awesome. I actually feel confident about sewing now and this was just 2 out of the 5 classes. I will definitely be signing up for more.

Tish, my instructor, was enthusiastic, prepared and obviously loves her subject. I had a grand time getting over my unreasonable fear of sewing by machine! She's got a great knack for knowing how to put together a class presentation that flows well and makes perfect sense. A++ and highly recommended!

This series was really fabulous. I went from knowing virtually nothing about sewing, to having confidence to try a variety of projects. Each class is focused on one aspect of sewing which makes learning how to sew less intimidating. Tish is always prepared with materials and presentations for each class. And she knows what she's talking about! She has years of experience and had so many helpful tips that are really beneficial to a newbie. Take this series - you'll learn a ton!
