Event Overview

The Chicago Pedway Tour takes you to Chicago's best buildings, all without going outside! The Pedway is a series of (mostly) underground walkways that connect buildings to each other so we don't have to go outside in the winter. Other cities have them, it's just that Chicago's is a little strange, a little different. The Pedway is more than just a series of hallways, it's strange and fun and has it's own community. In fact, I'm calling the Chicago Pedway one of our neighborhoods.   

On this tour we'll get to see the Pedway, study the map and learn how it works, but we'll also get to see:

• The Thompson Center - a "unique moment of schizophrenia" in the architectural life of Chicago and a building we're dangerously close to losing


• City Hall - one of the prettiest buildings in Chicago and it's pedway holds a fun surprise


• Marshall Fields/Macy's - home to a Tiffany Dome that will make you (I mean me) cry

 This tour takes us up and down and all around the Loop, all while staying cool in the summer and cozy in the winter.

• The Pedway is up and down. Be prepared for stairs, escalators and elevators
