You've heard about it, whispers, hints about something called, "The Pedway."
You've been in it...maybe, you're not sure, but maybe under Marshall Field's/Macy's?
Come on the Chicago Pedway Tour and bust the myths! This masterclass on the Chicago Pedway will explore this strange piece of urban infrastructure as you go under, around, over and through buildings in the Loop without ever going outside.
The Pedway winds through office buildings and hotels that during the week are filled with people. But on the weekend, it has an eerily quiet feel to it. We'll wander through "the new Eastside," get lost and found under the Hyatt, see strange art pieces and fake cobblestone streets.
And we'll talk about the Pedway. We'll dive deep into the map. We'll talk about planning (there isn't any) and governance (there isn't any!) and we'll talk about the Pedway as something deeper than hallways connecting buildings. It's a strange piece of city infrastructure, a mystery to even the most seasoned natives.

I was especially impressed with Margaret's research as it was evident that she had contacted many of the businesses/owners along our pedway route. I am definitely interested in taking her weekday Pedway tour since it takes us through another part of the Pedway.

Margaret was super enthusiastic. If you want to learn about the Pedway system from its #1 fan, this is for you! I imagine this tour has a much different feel during the weekdays, since the Pedway is largely used by commuters and is eerily empty for a weekend tour.
