Beaded Broach for Beginners
TOP RATED
Arts & DIY
Learn the basics of beadwork by making a beaded broach. No prior experience required. We will be using a Japanese seed bead embroidery technique, using a cabocon (shaped and polished stone) and small glass beads. Its a beautiful way to incorporate a stone into a jewelry piece without metal and soldering. The technique uses simple stitches and pattern work. The end result will be a broach or sewable component. All materials provided, each participant will leave with a finished product and you'll learn and use:
This project does involve tiny components, glasses will be necessary if you require them.
All ages welcome

Urban Oil Ceramics is the umbrella for all artisan goods and designs created by owner Katie Netti. From oil lamps and plant decor to books and cards, Urban Oil is your one-stop shop for unique handmade and custom gifts. Katie focuses on sophisticated designs that use natural materials and found objects for her work, so all of her products are entirely handmade and unique. Although based out of Chicago (Logan Square), Urban Oil and its products are all available for shipping from the website in addition to their availability in local stores.
Katie Also teaches adult art classes in her home studio. From a jewelry making work-space, a ceramic glazing station or a book binding shop, her studio changes to accommodate the class type.
*If you are planning to drive to the studio, you can park on the street out front of the building, restrictions do not apply between 6am and 6pm. For evening classes, I have Permit Stickers for your vehicle.
Class started at 11 and Katie was honest she hadn't taught this class yet so it may take more than the 2 hours scheduled. Hands on and attentive. There were only 2 of us so that helped with anything difficult. Class ended up being right at 3 hours.

I've taken many classes with Katie and they're always a great time. Very nice and relaxing to learn a new craft technique.
