Class Info:
No watercolors, no brushes—Katie Netti's preferred painting method relies on a needle and thread. In a three-hour workshop, she demonstrates how to interpret and recreate a photograph of your choice using a technique called embroidery painting. While providing all necessary materials, she helps even those who've never sewed before create a colorful work of art. The finish product stays in the embroidery hoop, as a frame, for fast and easy presentation!
* Transfer a Photo onto Fabric
Three days before class, send Katie a JPEG of any image you want to work with. Then, on the day of the class, you'll transfer the ink of the picture onto fabric by using a burnishing method.
* Stitch a Photograph with a blend of long and short stitches, create an expressive interpretation of the photograph on the fabric. While you can follow the guide image, you can also add a personal touch to create something more impressionistic or abstract.
* Take The Lesson Home
Katie doles out any tools and tips needed for you to finish the design at home.
The image can be of anything, black and white or color. Simple images with high contrast are suggested. (Think clip-art) You may send multiple images and we can discuss the best option to knnetti@gmail.com.
I provide all materials, but you will need to send me a Jpeg of your file 3 days before the class so I can obtain a printout for you. (needed for the image transfer to work properly) The image can be of anything, black and white or color.
All ages welcome
I will prove the fabric, image transfer materials, embroidery thread, needle, ect. ALL of the materials will be sent home with you in a kit.

Katie creates a very warm and welcoming space! The kit she gave with the class was so cute and filled with so many useful bits. I learned everything I need to know to make lovely "thread painting" pieces from any pictures I'd like.

I had a great time at Katie's embroidery class - the time flew by and I nearly completed my image during that time. Katie inspired me to definitely do this craft again on my own. Thanks for a fabulous Sunday!

This class was so fun! Though I had a little bit of experience with embroidery I definitely learned a lot.
