Drinks taste better at Happy Hour. It's a fact.

Ok, maybe that's more of an opinion, but Beeswax Candles do actually clean the air. That's science. Join us at Uvae Kitchen & Wine Bar in Andersdonville and enjoy amazing Specials while you learn hands-on how to make your very own Beeswax Candles with Essential Oils!

Essential Oils are all natural and come directly from plants, while strong Fragrance Oils are synthetic & often petroleum based. Essential oils add natural scent, have aromatherapy properties, and burning candles made with essential oils is another way of diffusing them! You'll get to take your handmade candles home with you, along with a better understanding of natural ingredients vs synthetic ones & the ability to make your own candles at home!

Availability can be extremely flexible to accommodate your group schedules! If a different date, time or location would be more convenient, or you don't see dates listed online, please let me know and we will set up a time that works best for you! Private Events can be created for groups or individuals.

Shamus is the owner of Real. Soaps, based in Chicago. He is a professional in the field and has been making soap and all natural products since 2012. After learning that most commercial 'soaps' are actually detergents (a cheap, synthetic version of the real deal) he learned how actual soap & other products are made from natural ingredients. His products have been featured on MSN, Kickstarter, Time Out Chicago and in West Elm Stores, Midway International Airport & The Chicago Botanic Garden.
Real. Soaps has grown over the years into an ever-expanding line of All Natural Bath & Body products carried in stores nationwide!
We don't use Palm Oil, Sulfates (SLS), Parabens, Phthalates, dyes, preservatives or other questionable ingredients.
We only make small batches & use only our own blends of Pure Essential & Food Grade Oils. Each cruelty free product is sustainably made by hand made with intention & care.

We loved our class! Uvae has a great vibe, so be sure to arrive early and take advantage of their happy hour specials. Shamus was friendly and fun, and we learned so much! We left not only getting to learn about candles, but with goody bags and the kitchen even brought us out a new dessert they were trying out. It was perfect for a girls night and I would definitely recommend it.

We did the Wine and Wax Happy Hour with Shamus for my best friend's bachelorette party and it was so fun! Shamus is so funny and knowledgable. He supplied all the things needed to make the candles. He made us all chapsticks that were customized with my friend's name and date of the party as well as custom labels for our candles. It was so cute and I loved the location. This is a great idea for any occasion and Shamus could not be any more helpful and great. Thank you for a great time.

This was technically my second class with Shamus. Making beeswax candles was a lot of fun. Once again, I learnt a lot, and had a fantastic time. Definitely worth taking.

Great class! So informative and I’m obsessed with my candles! As an avid candle burner I’ve immediately noticed the difference. Very cool experience and Seamus couldn’t be friendlier!

This class was awesome. Shamus is a genuine, humble and passionate instructor without being overbearing. You can really tell he has a heart and commitment to natural products. The class was fun and enjoyable. His personality coupled with his teaching style makes you want to become a candle-making groupie! He's generous with tips and information to make your own candles at home. I will definitely take this class again and highly recommend it to others.

Seamus is a wonderful, warm & welcoming teacher. It was way easier to make beeswax candles than I thought it would be & I really enjoyed their origin story. It was a fun time & I got to take home 2 handmade candles.

Great class! Teacher was fun, and the process was actually a lot easier than we expected. You get to make 2 candles, and it doesn't take too long!

This class was great! I loved being able to make non-toxic candles in a fun atmosphere! Shamus was a great teacher and extremely knowledgeable! He even brought some body oils I purchased which smell amazing. :)
