The 1990s were truly a boom-time for superhero cartoons. If you were a comics or superhero fan in the 90s, chances are you were obsessed with Batman: The Animated Series, the X-men cartoon, or any of the other awesome animated series based on comic book characters. Have you ever wanted to revisit those series, not only for nostalgia, but to look at them with a deeper awareness?
One night only, My Favorite Comics screens our top episodes of Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, X-men, Fantastic Four and the short-lived Incredible Hulk! After each episode, we will open a discussion and critical analysis, taking into account quality of animation, narrative coherence, and the success or failure of adaptation from one medium (comics) into another (television). We welcome all opinions! Comics fan Dean Johnson will also provide historical background on each series. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
This event will be thought-provoking and fun for comics creators, fans of pop culture, and avid comics readers. You will walk away from the session with your passion stoked and new knowledge about your favorite comics properties!
