Dean Johnson studied Fine Arts at Columbia College Chicago, where he earned his Bachelor Degree. Since then, he has built Dean Johnson Art Studio into a business. He has completed numerous commissions, including promotional images for theater companies TUTA and Darknight Theatrical Productions; flyers and postcards for rock band Arch Visceral Parlor and DJ Elle Madelyn; and illustrations for author John Wawrzaszek.
For Dean, translating skills from one medium to another is a natural evolution. For example, his printmaking skills are built on a solid foundation of drawing. This is why he loves teaching artists new mediums -- once they know the basics, a new medium should come naturally. They just need someone to explain the new medium step-by-step, so that they can apply their pre-existing skill set to it. Dean loves to be that voice of experience.
