Drawing Techniques: Charcoal & Conte Crayon
TOP RATED
Arts & DIY
It takes time to get comfortable with a drawing medium. The prospect of learning how to work with a new material is daunting. Wouldn't it be nice if someone else would do all the trial-and-error for you, and just show you what works?
That's where artist Dean Johnson comes in. He has spent years mastering drawing with charcoal and conte crayon. In this workshop, he shares his personal techniques with you. Learn how to build your drawing from a subtle sketch to a solidified image; learn what the different types of charcoal are for, and how to use them to get a range of dimensional effects; and learn how blending sticks can imbue your drawings with a new level of realism.
Dean will give you a live demo, then there will be studio time for experimenting with the tools and techniques. Feel free to keep the drawings Dean produces in class. That's right - original art! Dean will be with you as you draw to answer your questions and guide you through the process. This is your chance to hone your skills!
