Figure Drawing: Outdoors & In
TOP RATED
Arts & DIY
There are lots of Figure Drawing sessions where you can draw a model indoors. But how often do you get to draw a model outdoors, one who is interacting with outside objects? Imagine being able to draw a person sitting on a bus bench just for you, or leaning against a light pole. These are the kinds of poses you will see during our first hour, when we take our drawing session outside!
The second hour is back at ChiPRC where we will draw under more traditional conditions. The model will be unclothed, and we will have a series of dynamic poses to work from. Bring your own paper and drawing tools. Make sure you have a smaller pad for the outdoors portion!
This is your chance to practice capturing the human figure under multiple conditions: clothed and unclothed, outdoors and indoors. You will walk away with multiple drawings to use as reference. Plus, you will have the experience of what French artists call "en plein air" -- working outside!

Dean Johnson studied Fine Arts at Columbia College Chicago, where he earned his Bachelors Degree. He took every drawing class the school offered. Shortly after graduating, he began monthly private Figure Drawing sessions which convened in people's homes. These sessions served as the basis for the more formal sessions he leads at ChiPRC.
In addition to teaching art workshops, Dean is in demand for his accurate portrait paintings. He has also produced copious commercial work, including promo images for theater companies TUTA and Darknight Theatrical Productions; flyers for rock band Arch Visceral Parlor and DJ Elle Madelyn; and illustrations for author John Wawrzaszek.
