Event Overview

This is a virtual offering. You'll need wifi/cell service and a device with a camera (phone, computer, tablet) and will be visible to the hosts and other attendees to make conversation more conversation'y. • Have you ever lost a loved one and thought, "how long is this going to suck, and when will I feel better?”

  • Have you ever been through a break-up, finding yourself returning to the dating game too quickly in order to not be alone, or avoiding it altogether in order to not be hurt again?

  • Have you ever quit or lost a job, retired, or graduated, and felt more sad than you anticipated?

  • Are you feeling uncomfortable, powerless, anxious, scared, or depressed about Coronavirus and the quarantine?

I Can't: Grieve is for you.

I Can't: Grieve is part of Mac & Cheese Productions' I Can't series, where adults state they're unable to do something, they try it/learn about it with a bunch of other adults who also "can't," and everyone proves themselves wrong and not only does the thing, but enjoys it and says, "That wasn't so bad. In fact, kinda fun. Good for me! What's next?!" Past I Can'ts have included yoga, improv, draw, have a dog, financial planning, and buy a home.

This workshop will address —

  • Challenges of the grief and loss process

  • The different types of grief

  • The stages of grief

  • The importance of anticipatory grief

  • How to ask for support

  • Creating/maintaining healthy boundaries

  • How to support others

  • How to grieve in a constructive way

  • Coping skills for sitting with one's feelings

  • How to remain hopeful about an uncertain future

All you need to bring is yourself, your video-enabled device, and a huge sack of no judgment (of self or others). Oh, food and drink, if you'd like; eating during, thumbs up!

Matt Lozano is a clinical therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker working in outpatient behavioral health and private practice. He’s a proud cancer survivor, his first job out of graduate school was in hospice care, and he remains very passionate about supporting clients through grief and loss.
