Do you have basic sewing experience, but are ready for the next level? In this class, we will focus on sewing specific finishings: zippers, pockets, and closures. Students will select their own intermediate level sewing project and create with guidance from the instructor. This is a 5 week series on Tuesday evenings. Payment is for full enrollment in all 5 classes. Missed classes cannot be made up without fee.
The dates for this series are:
- #1 January 7, 7-9pm
- #2 January 14, 7-9pm
- #3 January 21, 7-9pm
- #4 January 28, 7-9pm
- #5 February 4, 7-9pm
What to Bring
Students must bring their own sewing supplies (fabric, scissors, rulers, pins, etc). We suggest that the students bring their own home sewing machine, but we do have extra at the studio they are welcome to use.

All ages welcome
Prerequisites
Students should have basic sewing experience on a home sewing machine, including knowledge on how to thread the machine, make basic stitches, and attach garments pieces.

With 10 years experience in corporate and small business apparel, fashion designer Anna Hovet is one of most recognized names in Chicago fashion. Anna earned her BFA from SAIC (where she now teaches). After graduating, she worked for a large corporate company, Kids Headquarters, where she designed layette for Ecko, Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, and Target. In 2009 she founded Anna Hovet Designs, an athleisure fashion line manufactured in Chicago and sold around the world. Anna also teaches fashion illustration at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
