In this class, you learn the core components of Mindfulness Meditation merged with fundamental Emotional Intelligence skills in order to strengthen your practice and gain greater self-awareness.
Mindfulness is the core skill that centers around your ability to be fully present in the current moment. Mindfulness increases awareness of your body and emotions, and provides greater insight into how your thoughts and mind work. Merged with Emotional intelligence training, you learn additional skills on how to better identify, work with, and consciously create your emotional responses.
The class is split into four sessions to focus on each of the skills to be learned:
Wk 1 (2/3). Using the Breath as Home / Working with the Body
Wk 2 (2/10). Working with Emotions / Conscious Emotional Selection
Wk 3 (2/17). Working with Your Thoughts and the Mind
Wk 4 (2/24). Deepening Your Practice
We will also cover loving-kindness and forgiveness meditation throughout the course.
Class times are to meet and learn the skills. Participants are assigned homework and practice the skills learned between sessions. Each session provides review and question and answer time as the class progresses.
Bring a notebook and pen.

Meditation cushions will be available for use during class.
Cancellation Policy
With over 15 years of experience in adult education, Filtod Walker is a master teacher whose courses and individual workshops focus on educational leadership, new teacher training, communication, presentation, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence skills. He has been a Vipassana (Insight) meditation practitioner since 1997 and is a secular teacher.
Filtod has spoken at conferences on mindfulness, emotional intelligence, stress management, cognitive distortions, instructional design, employee/volunteer correction, understanding cultural awareness, and learned helplessness.
