Drawing in the Park

Maybe you've heard the term "en plein air." It is French for "in the open air." French artists have been working this way for centuries. Let's take advantage of this concept while there is summer weather to enjoy!
Meet up with other artists at ChiPRC for an overview of art-making outdoors. Instructor Dean Johnson talks about plein air works and shows notable examples. Then, we will walk together to nearby Eckhart Park, where we will use the natural sights of the outdoors as our inspiration!
Bring your own drawing tools and paper. Feel free to draw in any drawing medium and any style. Use the natural wildlife, the trees, man-made objects and people as your subject matter. You will have a little over an hour of undisturbed creative time.
Toward the end of the session, we will head back to ChiPRC together to share and discuss our work. Gain confidence by receiving constructive feedback from your peers. Take home as many drawings as you have made, or feel free to trade your drawings with other students. They can serve as stand-alone pieces or as studies for paintings.
This will be a fun and relaxing way to exercise our drawing ability. Don't let the summer pass you by without Drawing in the Park!
