Note: This is a multi-session event series. By purchasing the event package, you acknowledge that you can attend all event dates included below. In this six week course, students will learn how to design, plan, construct and finish a basic table from scratch.
No prior woodworking experience is required. Though, it would not hurt for you to take our Woodworking 101 and 102 courses first. The skills learned in those classes will be directly applicable to the process of constructing furniture.
By the end of class, each student will have designed and constructed their own small table - such as a coffee table, end table, night stand, or the like.
As part of the learning experience of planning a project, students will procure their own wood, stain, and finish materials for their project.
All ages welcome
All general shop materials and consumables such as glue, hardware, sandpaper, etc. will be provided.

Joseph has been a woodworker for over 20 years. He has a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and his areas of expertise include woodworking, welding, metal fabrication, sculpture, furniture design, and more. He is the founder, owner, and director of MAKE! Chicago, Inc. a Maker Space in Bridgeport.
Joseph was a great instructor and I really enjoyed Woodworking 103 (Table Making). Joseph was very professional and tailored the class perfectly for our level of expertise. Giving us free access to the open shop days during the duration of the class was a great perk that allowed us to work on more complicated projects. I'm nearly finished with my nightstand and thanks to Joseph's instruction, it looks nearly identical to the $700 table that I'm replicating. The class is paying for itself already. I'm looking forward to using my skills on several other projects very soon.
