Event Overview

Make a sugar skull inspired mosaic using colorful tile and glass!

You will be treated to a fun and relaxing afternoon of creating and learning about the magic behind sugar skulls and Dia de Muertos.

You will have lots of tile and glass in all sorts of colors and textures to choose from. All materials are pre-cut or cut on site for you. You will learn to design and mosaic a sugar skull inspired mosaic.

Norma Rios Sierra

Norma D Rios-Sierra received her Bachelor of Art History from Columbia College Chicago in 2009. She has lived in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, San Diego, California and most recently McAllen, Texas. She was first introduced to stained glass art while working as a translator at a stained glass factory in Mexico. Her work consists mostly of stained glass mosaic featuring bold images inspired by iconic Mexican imagery, textiles, and embroidery.

This was my second mosaic class with Norma and Just like the first one, this class did not disappoint. Really great selection of glass and mosaic pieces, great instruction, and lots of creative suggestions. I’ll definitely take another class with Norma, and with Dabble. Keep the fun stuff coming guys!

Fun class! My teacher gave me great advice, tips, and tricks as I worked on my mosaic! She showed examples and shared ideas as well as feedback on my art and what I could do to improve it! In the end I created a wonderful work of art and know I can tackle another mosaic project on my own!

This class was so much fun! Norma had all of the materials organized and waiting for us, then instructed us individually as we came in. She gives you free reign over your designs, but for “creativity deficient” people like myself, she offered guidance from start to finish to help me create a great mosaic. All of the people in attendance were having a great time and getting to know each other—great for groups of people and for solo folks like myself. 13/10 would recommend. :)

This class was so much fun! This class is a fun activity to do with a group of friends. Teacher is engaged and extremely helpful. You have option to use brown or black grout. My sugar skull mosaic was beautiful! I want to take this class again and make another mosaic of a male sugar skull to complement my female sugar skull mosaic. <3 Highly recommend!

This is a GREAT class! I did not have any experience in creating mosaics, but Norma explained how to begin working on one at the beginning of class and then spent the rest of the time encouraging each student with his/her creation. She would also provide suggestions for small changes, explaining how it would impact the final result. I had a lot of fun creating my mosaic masterpiece!

We had SO much fun at the sugar skull mosaic class! The class was small enough for Norma to help with whatever we needed but big enough that it didn't feel intimidating when you first walk in if you're shy. And my mosaic turned out AMAZING! We will absolutely be taking another class taught by Norma!
