So what's the newest, hottest, foodie trend these days? Marshmallows! This is a hands-on culinary class where you will learn, make, flavor, decorate, and of course, eat homemade marshmallows. Everyone will also take home a pan of homemade marshmallows, along with ones decorated in class, to enjoy with family and friends.
This class is geared to those who want a fun sugar rush with marshmallows, but would also like to learn how they are made as well as the various flavors that can be concocted. We will cover the various ways to make marshmallows, common ingredients used, the plethora of flavoring and decorating ideas, and aside from eating as it, ways to use homemade marshmallows in your favorite recipes.
By taking this class, you’ll have a greater appreciation of the underestimated marshmallow as well as how to make them at home!
Joelen Tan is a Chicago area private caterer and former restaurant chef behind the 'What's Cookin, Chicago?' website. Joelen has been recognized in both local and national media and has worked with celebrity chefs including Rick Bayless, Spike Mendelsohn, and Marcela Valladolid. Since 2007, she has been teaching culinary classes, hosting culinary events in Chicagoland and does recipe development work with major food brands including Sara Lee, Pepperidge Farms, Campbell's, Kraft, Frito Lay and Starbucks to name a few.
