Asian dumplings... depending on which cuisine you're referring to, they can go by different names like Japanese Gyoza, Chinese Dumplings, Korean Mandu, etc. But however you wish to call them, one thing's for sure - they're delicious! This is a hands-on culinary class where you will learn, prepare, and of course, eat your fill of dumplings!
This class is geared to those who enjoy popping a few dumplings, but would like to learn how they are prepared - which is where all the fun is! Together, we will learn how to make dumpling dough from scratch (no packaged wrappers here) and fill them with assorted fillings. We'll also cook them in different applications - boiled, pan fried and steamed.

Joelen Tan is a Chicago area private caterer and former restaurant chef behind the 'What's Cookin, Chicago?' website. Joelen has been recognized in both local and national media and has worked with celebrity chefs including Rick Bayless, Spike Mendelsohn, and Marcela Valladolid. Since 2007, she has been teaching culinary classes, hosting culinary events in Chicagoland and does recipe development work with major food brands including Sara Lee, Pepperidge Farms, Campbell's, Kraft, Frito Lay and Starbucks to name a few.
