Have you ever considered traveling to another part of the world to explore and learn about another culture through food? If so, you’re in luck! Chicago has an eclectic Southeast Asian population and we're going to eat our way through the Argyle neighborhood where their culture is represented. In the 1970s, during the turmoil of the Vietnam War, immigrants from Southeast Asia began settling in Chicago. As a result, the Argyle neighborhood has emerged and today, they draw Thai, Vietnamese, and Cambodians to shop at the markets and get a taste of home.
In this 2-2 1/2 hour tour, we'll meet at the Argyle red line station before hitting the stops. Dabblers will get a delicious taste of the Argyle neighborhood and learn more about the Vietnamese culture through food. You’ll learn about essential pantry ingredients in Southeast Asian cooking, gain new appreciation of the Argyle community with the history of the neighborhood and how it has evolved through the years and of course, indulge in authentic Vietnamese eats.
Included in the class fee are all food and drink (+tax/gratuity) within the 6 stops on the tour (4 of which are eating establishments). The beauty of this tour is that you simply attend and enjoy a delicious culinary ride where we'll learn and feast on Vietnamese dishes and take in the culture as represented in Chicago's Argyle neighborhood.

This was a fun class and one that I really enjoyed. We went to two restaurants, tried different foods - from vietnamese sandwiches to interesting soups to wonderful desserts - and we were introduced to the various grocery stores in the area. I thought the tour was very thorough and the teacher was knowledgable.
