Event Overview

oin this timely conversation about collecting and selling art in the current art market. We’ll talk about what it means for both artists and collectors to subvert the art-buying process, the links between art and our wellbeing, and how to create a different kind of value within the exchange of art and money. Free and open to everyone. Please register to attend. 


Panelists include writer, curator and Hey Hue founder Deanne Gertner; holistic therapist and founder of Trilogy Holistic Mental Health, Chelli Pumphrey; independent curator and University of Denver affiliate faculty, Sarah Magnatta; and Denver artist and design researcher, Angela Craven.


Sarah Magnatta, PhD, Independent Curator; Affiliate Faculty, University of Denver 


Sarah received her PhD in Art History from The Ohio State University specializing in Tibetan and South Asian art.  She is currently an affiliate faculty member at the University of Denver and serves on the Museum Committee of the College Art Association.  Sarah spent three years as the Interpretive Specialist of Asian Art at the Denver Art Museum, where she worked on exhibitions such as Ganesha: The Playful Protector and Linking Asia: Art, Trade, and Devotion.  Sarah recently curated two exhibitions in Denver: Leang Seckon: Prophecy at the McNichols Civic Center Building, and Tenzing Rigdol: My World Is in Your Blind Spot at the Emmanuel Art Gallery.  The Rigdol exhibition will travel to the Tibet House in New York City this fall.  


Chelli Pumphrey, MA, LPC, Clinical Director & Founder of Trilogy Holistic Mental Health located in Denver


With over 20 years of experience, Licensed Professional Counselor, Chelli Pumphrey's specialties include working with trauma, anxiety, and dating/singles/relationships. Her unique, holistic approach includes using EMDR, and body focused interventions to treat the whole person, including yoga and meditation, and nutrition. Chelli's group therapy practice, Trilogy Holistic Mental Health, and a team of highly experienced therapists and health practitioners also offer therapy, acupuncture, nutrition and health coaching, energy healing for a variety of issues. A few of their specialties include trauma treatment, EMDR, PTSD, adult attachment therapy, anxiety, depression, combat veterans with PTSD, dating & relationships, and working with inflammation in the body that can often cause mental health symptoms.  


Deanne Gertner, Writer, Curator, and Founder of Hey Hue, an experimental art agency based in Denver


A Colorado native, Deanne Gertner holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a BA from Regis University. She’s worked in the creative industries for over ten years in the non- and for-profit sectors. She founded Hey Hue, recognized by the Westword as part of its Best of Denver awards, in 2018. She writes dance criticism for Presenting Denver and her creative writing has been published in or is forthcoming from Into the Void, Atticus Review, Treehouse, Quaint Magazine, and Scintilla. She currently sits on the board of Lighthouse Writers Workshop.


Angela Craven, Denver-based Abstract Expressionist Painter and Design Researcher


Angela Craven is an abstract expressionist painter and independent design researcher with a studio in Denver’s RiNo Art District. She studied in Siena, Italy with abstract painter and video artist Franca Marina and holds a BFA in Painting from Colorado State University. Angela has shown her work with Manhattan Arts International and TAXI and has been a featured artist at RiNo Made. With more than 12 years of experience in human-centered design, and working with clients ranging from two-person startups to large corporations, she combines her art with her love of learning about people, their unique challenges and triumphs, to create commissioned art for them. She is particularly driven to capture stories of personal reflection and transformation.
