Event Overview

Hand embroidery has been a part of domestic arts and crafts for many centuries. Today, embroidery is used as much for artistic purposes and domestic decoration or garment embellishment.

This class will introduce the basic skills needed to create embroidered artworks or crafts. A wide selection of stitches, applique methods, and non-traditional methods will be explored. Along with technique, we will look at examples of contemporary artists who utilize embroidery in their work.

Students will leave with a sampler demonstrating their basic skills as well as the know how to approach creating their own design.
