I had the nicest time, playing with a "Chopped!"-like pantry and mixing seemingly random ingredients like a mad scientist. Sarah and Yvonne were lovely hosts. Sarah provided a rubric that was particularly helpful in terms of how to freestyle effectively. I'm not an adventurous cook. Wasting food really bothers me and so I err on the side of bland. After taking this class, in the last week I have altered 3 of my tried-and-true recipes to add more layers of flavors. It is so delightfully empowering to know what things might work together and how to fix things if I go off the rails!

My only complaint was that it went so late on a weeknight, but I knew that when I signed up. Perfect friend-date or date-date activity; just don't eat beforehand, because you're going to want to eat what you make in class (or at least taste it, to see if you're going in the right direction). Also, they were very allergy-sufferer friendly, so if you have this issue, let them know in advance so they can see if they can accommodate.

This class taught us the basic recipe/equation for adding flavor and creating some foods from what is in our kitchen. I thought the price was a great value because you get to try so many ingredients and take home leftovers! It sometimes felt a little out of reach - discussing ingredients I would never have in my kitchen - but parts were helpful. I would definitely go back to another class at Whole Foods!

This class was fun and informative -- we learned how to make well-rounded, full-flavored dishes and the basic theories behind flavor interactions. It was nice to discover how simple it is to make delicious foods. I now want to sign up for all of the Basic Skills Series classes they offer.

Great class! Very informative, explains how to mix flavors, as well as what to do when you accidentally make the dish too salty/sour/sweet and etc. We made snacks, salsa, salad dressing and Thai curry. I will definitely come back for more classes. By the way, it's BYOB (even if it doesn't say on the site)

The class was fun and informative without being overwhelming. I appreciated that there was a mixture of demonstration and practice, and all of the ingredients were delicious! I am excited to apply some of the strategies we learned. The space and price were also excellent.

Basic Skills Series: Cooking with No Recipe -- This class offered a great balance of instruction, demonstration, and hands-on practice. The handouts referencing the 5 different flavor categories will be very helpful for future reference. As always, another great WF cooking class!!

Loved this class especially because I am so bad at following recipes. We learned how to make multiple different items- salsa, salad dressing, sauces, chicken.
