Event Overview

It is never too late to learn to cook and it is our mission to make sure you have the opportunity! Join Sarah, our Cooking At Home Specialist, as she teaches you all the skills needed to successfully make sauces, dressings and marinades at home. All skills welcomed. Participants will be learning how to make roux for three classic sauces: brown, red and mornay (cheese). We will also make an authentic curry, an Asian dipping sauce, mayonnaise from scratch, a vinaigrette and discuss the science behind marinating. Come hungry because you will be eating your creations throughout the class. Class includes samples and take home recipe cards. If you participate in 6 Basic Skills Classes, you will get a 7th class for FREE. See COOKING School Team Member for a punch card.

I thought this was great and very informative! The teacher was great about teaching in a way that all levels could understand.

This was an amazing class!! The instructor broke down the steps for us to make different sauces, as well as gave us a long of hands on opportunity. I have food allergies and the instructors went above and beyond to accommodate so I could still learn how to make everything. All of the food tasted amazing and pretty sure I'll have leftovers for weeks. I highly recommend this class!

The Sauces, Dressing and Marinades class was great! It was informative but also very hands on. I learned so much and am already putting the skills I learned to use at home. Highly recommend it!

First of all, I never knew a roux was basically the base for most all sauces...I thought it was only something necessary to make a Gumbo. Secondly, I didn't realize a very delicious gravy could be made without having pan drippings (and also, that biscuits and gravy are the most simple and yet amazing thing ever!). Lastly, now that I know how to make an amazingly thick and flavorful cheese sauce from scratch, I will never buy a boxed mac and cheese again!!! I also can't wait to try and make homemade mayo with the recipe they provided. This was an amazing class!
