Event Overview

It is never too late to learn to cook and it is our mission to make sure you have the opportunity! Dairy allergies and animal free lifestyles are a part of the everyday household now. Come join our Cooking At Home Specialists, Lorna and Sarah, as they teach you how to substitute dairy with alternative foods and take out the meat without carnivores even noticing! No need to be vegan to attend class, this is a skill everyone should know!


The menu includes nachos, mac n cheeze, mete-loaf, BBQ seitan, chocolate chip cookies and a tasting of 10 different alternative mylks. Come hungry because you will be eating your creations throughout the class. The class includes samples and take home recipe cards. If you participate in 6 Basic Skills Classes, you will get a 7th class for FREE. See COOKING School Team Member for a punch card.

    I really enjoyed the teacher and the interactive nature of the class. It was great to learn about how to tweak non-vegan recipes to make them vegan friendly.

    I loved that this class was a mixture of demonstration and hands-on, and the instructor was fantastic! Even though I'm not a vegan, I couldn't believe how simple and easy it is to substitute ingredients to vegan-ize it, all without changing the flavor! I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to experiment with their cooking style!

    I’m mostly vegetarian and always trying new things to be healthy so this class was a perfect incorporation into my diet goals! I’m always skeptical about fake ‘cheeses’ and ‘meats’. This got down to the basics of the recipes. Loved the flow of class and the food was delicious!

    A perfect date night activity! The menu was thoughtfully created; minimal effort produced tasty results! The class was both informative and fun; we left after 2.5+ hours feeling full and with new recipes to try. BYOB is a nice bonus! Will definitely attend again.

    I'm not vegan, but I enjoyed learning about what vegan's eat, as well as having the opportunity for hands on practice to cook vegan meals. All of the food was measured out in advance, which made the process go more smoothly. It was fun to work with a partner to create the recipes that we were given.

    The instructors were great! They were very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Some of the recipes had to be altered because I have food allergies and it was no problem. The class was a good balance of watching and hands on.
