Event Overview

It is never too late to learn to cook and it is our mission to make sure you have the opportunity! Join our Cooking At Home Specialists, Lorna and Sarah, as they teach you the secrets to making soup. We will learn how to make broths and 5 classic soups: tomato, chicken noodle, minestrone, clam chowder and creamed greens. Come hungry because you will be eating your creations throughout the class. The class includes take home recipe cards. If you participate in 6 Basic Skills Classes, you will get the 7th class for FREE. See COOKING School Team Member for a punch card.

I loved the Basic Skills Soups class! I've taken several of the Basic Skills classes and have never been disappointed. Sara and Lorna always do a wonderful job of demonstrating all the steps and giving helpful tips along the way. This class was no exception. I learned to make 6 different types of soups including chicken noodle, minestrone and tomato and took home two big containers of soup. I highly recommend this class.

Love this teacher! The selection of soups was good - 6 of them? - and we got the chance to choose whether to make minestrone or tomato. Neither are my favorite, so that was a bit disappointing, but in general that's just my personal preference (I don't like tomatoes in soup), so other people loved it! The best part was learning the basics of broth making, which was extremely useful.

This was such a fun evening! A lot of great recipes, hands-on for a couple soups, tasting of all 5, and we got to take home the ones we made. Nice set-up, with plenty of room, great instructor and support folks, and nice class size. I would very much recommend this class, whether you're already a soup-maker or not - you'll pick up tips for sure.
