Event Overview

The world's first chemist was a woman named Tapputi, who made perfumes in the Royal Palace of Babylonian Mesopotamia around 1200 BCE. Over the centuries, the art and science of perfume has evolved, and in this class, Asmita, owner of Forza de Vie, will introduce different techniques and scents from the around the world. After a broad overview of perfume, you will have the opportunity to create your own blend of aromas. Starting with an empty bottle and under the guidance of Asmita, you will add your choice of scents, according to the general formula of 3 accords using up to 9 out of 20 available notes.

In this workshop, you will:

- Sample modern and classical scents
- Learn about the history of perfume and the process of distillation and other extraction methods
- Play with different combinations of scents in order to create your own blend
- Complete a perfumery worksheet to record your perfume's formula
- Take home your 5 ml (1/6 oz) bottle of perfume
