Event Overview

Tie dye: one of those things that we all think we should be good at because we did it as kids. But tie-and-dye techniques have been used all over the world and from the 5th century, so there's a whole boatload and more of knowledge!

How much powder dye do you mix into the water, and how much liquid dye do you use on the fabric? How do you get a crisp design? A colorful spiral divided by white, or a white spiral divided by color? How do you not accidentally get brown?

This class is a shortcut through all that knowledge!

We'll start with an overview of the supplies, learn how to prep the dye and your dyeables, practice a couple spiral techniques on handkerchiefs, and then apply your new skills to a shirt.

This workshop does not include bringing items from home for dyeing. There will be opportunities for that later!

Fine print: One spot is for one person. We may not be able to seat you if you're more than 15 minutes late, to ensure a positive experience for the other guests and teacher. No kids (high schoolers welcome).
