Event Overview

From Jiao-zi to Gou-tie, you might know them as potstickers served at your local Chinese restaurant. In this hands-on class, you'll learn about the variations of this one Chinese dumpling and the critical techniques used to make both the great fillings (meat and vegetarian) and the tasty outer shell. Discover the differences between the steamed, boiled, and fried varieties as we practice forming and rolling our own dough, and shaping and cooking with the premade wrappers. This class is BYOB, and vegan/vegetarian friendly!

ABOUT THE TASTE TEST SERIES:
The "Taste Test” series is designed for anyone who has a special skill they’d like to share and wants to teach a class at the kitchen. These classes will offer a low-pressure environment for first time teachers, or experienced chefs, to try out new class ideas on the public. These weeknight classes are BYOB, and will always be $25 or under.

Based on feedback from the students, popular classes may be added into our regular general programming.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Janet has always loved to cook, had childhood dreams of owning a bakery or food truck, and has realized portions of her dream in various positions as prep and line cook, head cook, manager of an institutional kitchen, personal cook, caterer, and teacher of vegetarian cooking. Spending almost seven years in Taiwan and Hong Kong, she picked up a love for the Chinese cuisine and remembers fondly the many hours spent with friends during the Chinese New Year holidays mixing, rolling, shaping and enjoying the Chinese pot sticker, in all its forms.

The Pot Sticker class was fabulous! The instructor was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The task of making pot stickers seemed daunting, but she made it fun. I cannot recommend this class (as well as Peterson Garden Project) enough!

So fun! The "taste test" serious with Peterson Garden Project are a new fav of mine. They really are a hands on cooking experience with great instructors. We learned how to make pot sticker dough and the filling. We were able to use both our homemade dough and store bought dough to really see the difference between the two. And we cooked the pot stickers using three different methods: steaming, boiling and pan frying (true pot stickers). Loved this class! A delicious meal at the end and always BYOB!
