Event Overview

Gather up old sheets, clothes or scrap fabric pieces and transform these rags into a beautiful rug! The class will cover the basics of making a crocheted rag rug out of recycled fabrics. This workshop will cover from start to finish how to construct a rag rug, from cutting the fabric to simple crochet techniques, including the chain stitch and single crochet stitch. Participants will get started on a small circular rug which they can take home and finish crafting at their leisure! Class fee includes fabric and a handmade crochet hook. You are welcome to bring in your own cotton bed sheets or t-shirts to customize your rug colors.


Materials Saved from the Landfill:
T-shirts, bed sheets, wood dowel rods

What to Bring

If you have specific colors in mind, please bring in a flat bed sheet or a few t-shirts with no side seams.

Minimum age

    I've been interested in Rag Rugs for a long time and was excited to see this class offered. The instructor made sure everyone was comfortable, answered all questions patiently and gave us each individual time and instruction. I really enjoyed this class and feel like I can finish the rug I started and start a new one without much hassle.
