Pillowcases cases looking tired? Strange spot on your favorite tee? Shibori is the answer! Shibori, aka Japanese tie dye, is a multifaceted art where you can tie, fold, and stitch your way to a whole new look for tired linens, clothes and more. Bring one or two items to transform using the Itajime method of resist, a technique that utilizes shaped blocks to create bold, geometric designs. Please be sure your pieces are natural, plant based fibers like linen, cotton, or hemp. We’ll be using indigo dye to dip into, a vibrant, striking blue you’re sure to love.
Angela of The Enamel Project will be teaching this workshop. Learn more about The Enamel Project here: http://www.theenamelproject.com/.
Materials saved from the landfill: pillowcases, clothing, tea towels, etc.
Bring in one to two pieces to dye. Please be sure your pieces are natural, plant based fibers like linen, cotton, or hemp. Examples of pieces to bring are a shirt, a pillowcase, a tea towel, a dress, etc.
All ages welcome

This was a really fun class! The instructor was lively and well informed. We all got to try several different ways of folding fabric to produce different designs and had a great time doing it. I will definitely try Shibori again -- the results were beautiful! (If you're messy like me, you might want to plan to bring snug latex gloves or you'll be scrubbing indigo off your hands and nails for a week. )
