Japanese bookbinding
Even in the midst of the digital age, the beauty of handmade books has not been lost. Theresa, Perennial’s Lead Instructor, will introduce the class to the art of Japanese bookbinding. A great place for beginners, Japanese book-binding techniques are simple yet finish elegantly and do not require many tools. Participants will learn to us an awl and a binder’s needle to handcraft up to two books from upcycled materials. Transform tossed hardback books into a new blank sketchbook or create a soft bound journal from salvaged leather goods.
