Event Overview

Get empowered and save your love-worn clothing from the landfill! Hand sewing and mending is an invaluable skill that will save you time, money, your favorite sweater, and impress your friends as a newbie sewing wizard. In this class, we will start with the basics – tools for sewing, basic terminology, and the most essential skills like threading a needle and tying a knot that stays. You will learn a handful of stitches and practice by making a stitch sampler. Next, we will cover basic mending and repair skills. You will learn to sew on a button, fix thread pulls, how to repair a tear, apply a patch, fix a hole in a knitted item (like a sweater), and how to replace worn out elastic.

Please note, this two-day workshop takes place on Saturdays, July 21 and July 28 from 10:00am – 12:00pm.
